About

Shelter & Warning is a slowburn, sapphic gothic romance story about the simple pleasures of sharing the perfect cup of coffee, making a snap decision to give up everything you were told you're supposed to want, and learning that you can be haunted by more than ghosts (but also yes, actual ghosts). It’s a love letter to the millennial desire to just walk away from the capitalist demands of being always on, always reachable, always available, and finally being able to figure out who you are as a person when freed from those constraints.

This is a pantomime comic, meaning no dialogue, speech bubbles, or captions. There will be some sound effects and environmental text to help the story along. But basically if it gets vocalized, the audience doesn’t hear it.

Shelter & Warning is written and illustrated by Karen F.

Karen is an artist, illustrator, and designer based in the Southern US. A self-described scaredy cat, Karen prefers to read spooky stories rather than watch them, because "there's no jumpscares in books." The only movie she's ever walked out of is The Wolfman (2010), and she still hasn't forgiven her friends for making her watch Paranormal Activity.

Karen makes soft, tender, yearning, queer, romantic art. This is her first long-form comic project. You can get updates about the comic and see recent art she's working on by following her @kkpwnall on all the social platform. For all inquiries, reach out to her by email at kkpwnall@gmail.com
